Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park

storm

The previous day's sedentary nature left me determined to get back into the mix today and so hooking up with Hanna a Kiwi girl, I opted for a day trip out to one of the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park which peppered KK's seaside horizon. Skeptical of the overcast sky, by the time we had reached our goal we had been subjected to a full on arse smacking and drenching boat ride out to Mamukit Island amid deterioration into a full on storm. In forlorn hope of an improvement we stuck out the monsoon conditions under a shelter for a couple of hours before finally having to admit defeat and endure an even scarier grey lumpy sea back into KK. Now thats what I call a washout. Thankfully the periodically splattering sea water had been amazingly warm at least! Back at the hostel I ended staying up all night for Scotland's World Cup qualifier v France, sadly only available via online updates, but my resolve was rewarded by the fact that the Jocks amazingly prevailed 1-0. The down side of my efforts however was that when I should have been hitting the road again for Labuan that morning, I was dead.
